Why are the Liquor Stores Closed on Sundays?
Texas State law dictates the operating hours for liquor stores. Hours are Monday-Saturday, 10 a.m. - 9 p.m. Liquor stores are also required to be closed on Christmas Day and New Year's Day.
Exactly How Long Has Wimpy's Beer Been in Dumas?
My first reaction is that nobody knows. That probably isn't true, so I will get around to looking it up. It isn't enough that I remember going there with my Dad, sometime in the mid-1960's. About four years ago a family stopped in to the Ford dealership where I worked and a charming, elderly woman asked me if Wimpy's was still around. I had some inside info, so I chatted with her for a few minutes. She said her Father was Wimpy, and that she remembered the play area out back of the building and, of course, the nearby outhouse. Thankfully, Wimpy's Beer now has indoor plumbing.
